GREEENSBORO — Stephen Joseph Abondolo, 65, passed away Sunday, February 24, 2013. Born June 5, 1947 in Waterbury, CT, Steve moved to NC to attend NC State and study agrichemical engineering. He also received a Master's degree from Duke University in Education. Steve was a man of many trades who especially loved volunteering at the Natural Science Center in Greensboro taking care of the snakes and other animals, and being a Granddaddy.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Patricia Abondolo, of the home; son Joseph Abondolo and wife Erica of High Point, NC; brother Robert Abondolo and wife Mary of Crestwood, Kentucky; sister Denise Hennessy and husband Walter of Coventry, RI; his granddaughters Natalie and Emily Abondolo of High Point, NC, and several nieces and nephews. All who knew and loved Steve will fondly remember his love of telling stories, tinkering on his car, and playing with his grandchildren.

A memorial service celebrating Steve's life will be held Thursday, February 28, 2013 at Forbis and Dick Funeral Home, N. Elm Street Chapel at 2 p.m. Pastor Jason Harvey will officiate. Family will receive friends prior to the service from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
