HIGH POINT — Mrs. Doris Jean Rakes Teer, age 79, of High Point died Saturday, February 9 at Hospice Home at High Point.

A native of Kentucky, Mrs. Teer was born January 1st, 1934 a daughter to the late John and Ethel Burchett Rakes. She had been a resident of the High Point Area since 1962. For over thirty five years she worked as a payroll accountant at Freeway Foods in Greensboro. She also was, for the past eight years, owner of Piedmont Bar and Restaurant Supply Company in High Point and subsequent to that was also owner of The Pits in High Point. In addition to her parents Doris was preceding in death by a daughter, Cynthia Fawcett; four brothers, Charles, Ernest, Johnny and Carl Rakes and a sister, Juanita Rakes Rigsby. On November 23rd, 1996 she married Phillip E. Teer who survives of the home.

Also surviving are one daughter, Carla Beane of Oxford; one son, Carl Henry Priddy of Kernersville; three sisters, Betty Rakes of Lancaster, Kentucky, Judy Scott of Nicholasville, Kentucky, Phyllis Damron of Huntington, West Virginia; three brothers, James D. Rakes, Paul Rakes and Robert Rakes all of Catlettsburg, Kentucky.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service in High Point. Burial will follow in Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday (tonight) at the funeral home.
