WALNUT COVE — Joel Keith Mounce, 83, died Sunday morning, February 3, 2013 at his home.

He was born on February 6, 1929 in Stokes County to James M. and Anna Maude Hill Mounce. He retired from Hanes Hosiery with over 40 years of service. Mr. Mounce loved airplanes. And flying while he had his pilot's license and was a history buff. He was a member of Parkview Primitive Baptist Church.

An 11 a.m. funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at Parkview Primitive Baptist Church with Elder E. W. Hooven officiating. Burial will follow at Saints Delight Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Kernersville.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Eris Elizabeth Mounce and Eileen (Spooley) White.

Mr. Mounce is survived by his wife of 37 years, Edith King Mounce of the home; three children, Dean Beck and wife Rhonda and Karen Coppley, both of Winston-Salem and Todd Beck and wife Michelle of Walburg; nine grandchildren, Josh Coe and wife Shana, Doug Beck , Laura Beck, Candice Beck, Sarah Coppley Brittany Beck, Chasity Beck, Taylor Beck, Ashton Beck; one great grandchild, Riley Coe and 1 brother, James Faxon Mounce.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at Burroughs Funeral Home and other times at the home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Parkview Primitive Baptist Church, 3209 Ridgewood Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27107 or Hospice and Palliative Care Center of Stokes County, PO Box 863, Walnut Cove, NC 27052.
