WAYNESBORO, GA — Bettye Davis McCain entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, January 2, 2013.
Bettye was born June 5, 1942 in Waynesboro, GA and was the daughter of the late George and Alberta Singleton Davis. She is survived by her husband, Franklin McCain, Sr, her three sons, Franklin Jr (Vicki), Wendell (Lori) and Bert (Keisha), six grandchildren, Taylor, Mac, Davis, Charles, Alayna and Amanda and by her sisters, Gwendolyn Kettles, Shirley Peek, Joan Washington, Joyce Bennett, W. Dorothy Davis, Pamela Daniels and Daisy Porter.
Bettye is a graduate of Bennett College and served as an educator and Principal with the Charlotte Mecklenburg School system for over 30 years.
Visitation was Monday, January 7, 2013 at 2 p.m. A funeral service was held 3 p.m. at Friendship Baptist Church, 3400 Beatties Ford Rd, Charlotte NC 28216. Interment was at Oaklawn Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Bettye D. McCain Scholarship Fund at Bennett College in Greensboro N.C.
