MARTINSVILLE, VA Helen Virginia Claybrook White, 100, of Martinsville, died Sunday, January 6, 2013 at her residence. She was born in Henry County, November 18, 1912 to John Harvey Claybrook and Ora Belle Clifton Claybrook. Mrs. White was the oldest living member of Horsepasture Christian Church. She retired after thirty years as a seamstress with Globman's Department Store.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Nelson White; a brother, Raymond M. Claybrook and a grandson, Scotty White.
Surviving are three daughters, Virginia W. Levi of Ridgeway, Florence W. Disbrow of Richmond and Emilie W. Wooldridge of Martinsville; two sons, Charles M. White of Irisburg and B. Scott of Collinsville; fifteen grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Horsepasture Christian Church with ministers Bob McGuire and David Cuthbertson officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at McKee-Stone Funeral Home in Martinsville and other times at the home.
