BURLINGTON Mr. J. Walter Pritchette, Sr., 77, of 722 Tucker Street, Burlington died at Alamance Regional Medical Center on Friday, January 4, 2013 at 10:50 a.m. following a brief illness.
A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of 57 years to Jacqueline Harper Pritchette, who survives and the son of John Fred Pritchette and Lillie Harris Pritchette, both deceased. He attended Pleasant Grove School and later worked and retired from U. S. Labels in Greensboro. He loved bowling and playing golf with the Alamance Seniors. He made a hole in one, April, 1993 at Southwick Golf Course. Walter was a member of Long's Chapel Christian Church.
In addition to his wife of the home, survivors include his children, John W. Pritchette, Jr. and wife Shannon of Bangor, Maine, Kyle Pritchette Pickard and husband Ronald of Gibsonville and Melissa Pritchette Spoon and husband Jeff of Burlington; grandchildren, John Pritchette, III, Cregg Pickard, Nicole Pritchette, Jason Pickard, Jacqueline Pritchette, Nathaniel Pritchette and Dakota Pritchette; a sister, Janet Pritchette Wrenn and husband Donald of West End, NC; special friends, Brad Mills, Karen Mills and Josephine Norris; and two special young friends, Lacy and Cody Mills.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Della Pritchette Warren and Dorothy Estelle Pritchette.
The funeral service will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington on Monday, January 7, 2013 at 2 p.m. by Rev. Bruce Church. Burial will follow in Long's Chapel Christian Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington on Sunday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Other times they will be at the residence.
