LIBERTY — Iva Lou Permar Moore, 91, of Liberty passed away at her home on December 26, 2012.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 29, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Liberty Friends Meeting; burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home and other times at the home.

She was the daughter of the late Rev. John M. and Iva D. Permar and was also preceded in death by her eldest son, Tommy P. Moore and grandson, Michael B. Brown.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, George Thomas Moore of the home; three children, Max Moore of Asheboro, Joe Moore and wife, Lisa of Liberty and Nancy Brown and husband, Steve of Easley, SC; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Dorothy P. Self of Georgia.

Iva graduated from Graham High School and Columbia Bible College in Columbia, SC. After graduation, she worked for Southern Bell Telephone Co. as an overseas operator during WWII. While being a homemaker was her most important role in life, she was also employed by Liberty School and Liberty Police Department as a dispatcher. She was always very supportive of her family and was involved in several activities while her children were growing up, including the local Cub Scout and Girl Scout Troops. She was involved with the Ladies Missionary and taught for many years at Liberty Friends Meeting.

During retirement, Iva was proud to be a member of the William Prather York VFW Post 8721 Ladies Auxiliary and felt it an honor to serve the Veterans in the Liberty area.

The family would like to thank all who knew and loved Iva, and especially her recent in-home caregivers. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Randolph County, PO Box 9, Asheboro, NC 27204.
