GREENSBORO Mrs. Jennie Viola Eppes Lawson, 93, a resident of Greensboro died Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at the Adams Farm Living and Rehab Center. She was born April 22, 1919 in Greenville, County, SC, the daughter of John Berry Eppes and Clara Bell Jones Eppes. She was employed with Burlington Industries until her retirement and was a member of Faith Freewill Baptist Church. Mrs. Lawson loved to cook and feed people and was known for her fried pies.
She was married on February 16, 1963 to Charlie C. Lawson who preceded her in death in July of 1997. She was also preceded in death by her son, Jack Thomas Greene.
Surviving are three daughters, Ruby Elizabeth Wilhoit of Greensboro, Helen Burns of Arizona, Vivian Meyers of Greensboro; two step-daughters, Pat Cockaman and Carolyn Lawson of Lexington; one step-son, Pete Lawson of Lexington; one sister, Frances Galloway of Greenville, SC; 12 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Faith Freewill Baptist Church conducted by Reverend Vic Redding. Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church Saturday morning from 10 a.m. until service time.
