GREENSBORO — Reverend William Howard Rogers, Jr., 63, passed away December 3, 2012 at Veterans Community Living Center, Salisbury, NC. His wife and son were with him.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, December 7, 2012, at Memorial Presbyterian Church with Dr. Benjamin Williams officiating. Interment will follow at 1 p.m. at the National Cemetery in Salisbury, NC .

William was born in Greensboro, NC on October 20, 1949 to William Howard and Mary Louise (Faircloth) Rogers Sr. He graduated from Grimsley High School in 1968. William then attended Lees-McCrae College and graduated from Elon University in 1974 with Bachelor's Degree. Also, William earned Master's Degrees from Emery University, Atlanta GA; Columbia Theological Seminary, Decatur, GA; and Princeton University, Princeton, NJ. Was ordained as a minister and served Presbyterian Church (USA) churches primarily in South Carolina and Virginia. Rev. Rogers served in United States Army A.S.A during the Vietnam War from 1969 - 1971, where he was wounded in 1970.

Rev. Rogers was also an insurance agent and a mortgage broker for several years. He had a gift for and great interest in herbal compounding.

Rev. Rogers was preceded in death by his father, William Howard Rogers, Sr..

He is survived by his wife, Anna Marie (Ann) Egeler Rogers; mother, Mary Louise (Faircloth) Rogers; son, William Howard (Trey) Rogers, III; step-sons, Matthew J. Anderson and Marc A. Anderson; brother, David Rogers; step-grandsons, Jacob and Jeffrey Anderson, and Brady and Tristan Anderson; nieces, Angie (Shane) Hinson and family and Cindy (Jim) Stowe; and several cousins, aunts and uncles.

The family will greet friends Thursday evening, December 6, 2012 from 6 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at Forbis & Dick Funeral Home ,North Elm Street, Greensboro.
