SOUTHERN PINES — Edwin Horace Brown, 80, of Aberdeen, passed away October 30, 2012.

He was born October 28, 1932 in Spartanburg County, SC. Mr. Brown earned a Bachelor of Arts from Clemson University in 1954. After graduation he accepted a commission as a second lieutenant in the United States Army and served four years. He continued his service in the reserves for an additional eleven years. He worked in the textile industry for over forty years. He loved flying his plane and fishing for flounder and shrimp. He was a Mason and a Shriner.

Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his parents, Fay B and Mary Skinner Brown, and his brothers, Raymond Brown, James Brown, Belton Brown, and David Brown.

He is survived by his wife, Rebecca McLeod Brown; sister, Mildred Brown Huckaby of Laurens, SC; son, Edwin Horace Brown, Jr and wife Tavia of Charlottesville, VA; daughter, Rebecca McLeod Brown of Winston-Salem; grandchildren, Watts McLeod Brown and Macey Etta Brown.

A graveside service will be held Friday, November 2, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Old Bethesda Cemetery (1006 Bethesda Road, Aberdeen, NC, 28315).
