GREENSBORO — Mrs. Lula Harris Russell, 99, died at Whitestone Retirement Community on Tuesday, October 23, 2012.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, October 26, 2012, at Muir's Chapel United Methodist Church, Greensboro. The Rev. Vance Lowe will officiate. Burial will follow at 3 p.m. at Randall's United Methodist Church Cemetery, Norwood, NC.

Mrs. Russell was born February 2, 1913, in Marlboro County, South Carolina, to the late Frank Asbury and Lula Miller Harris. She retired in 1977 from the Stanly News and Press where she had worked as the Norwood correspondent for over 27 years. She was a member of Muir's Chapel United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women as long as her health permitted. She also enjoyed Friendship Day at First Presbyterian Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Charles Shelley Russell, five brothers and four sisters.

Survivors include her two daughters, Wanda Russell of Greensboro, Judy Siegfried and husband, Ed, of Drums, PA; three grandsons Col. Edward Siegfried Jr. US Army and wife, Berit, of Fairfax, VA, Andrew Siegfried of Stowe, OH, Christopher Siegfried and wife, Tammi, of Windermere, FL; four great-granddaughters and two great-grandsons.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. on Thursday-October 25, 2012, at Forbis and Dick-Guilford Chapel. Online condolences may be offered to the Russell Family at www.forbisanddick.com.
