LIBERTY Kenneth David Beard, 48, a native of Liberty, passed away Wednesday, October 10, 2012.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 20, at 1 p.m. at Loflin Funeral Home in Liberty. A graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. in Fairview Cemetery in Liberty.
Born November 3, 1963 to the late Joe and Betty Beard, David was a graduate of Eastern Randolph High School. He spent the past 20 years living in the Richmond, Virginia and was employed with Beach Construction Company.
Affectionately known as "Turtle" by his friends, David enjoyed nothing more than cheering on his favorite teams, playing ball, reading and laughing with friends.
Along with his parents, David was preceded in death by his brother Wayne Beard.
David will be remembered as a hardworker and someone always willing to help his friends and family. David lived his life always putting others before himself, making his thoughtfulness and huge heart a legacy that he leaves behind, along with many cherished memories. David's trademark smile will be missed but never forgotten by those who were fortunate enough to call him friend.
David is survived by his brothers J.R. Beard (Susan) of Liberty, Billy Beard of Winston Salem, Mark Beard (Jane) of Chester, Virginia; nieces Tracy Whatley (Andrew and Jacob) and Robin Breedlove (Caitlin, Tanner and Rylan George) all of Liberty; "adopted family" Amy Cobb (Elizabeth Rose and John) and Richard Poppell (Jenn); special friends Coley Loman, Jimmy Beach and Gary Wright; and his special buddy, his rescue dog Shady. David leaves behind a host of friends in North Carolina and Virginia, as he left a special mark on each person he met along his journey.
