SUMMERFIELD - Mrs. Bessie Mae Shelton Barham, 85, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 26, 2012, at Hospice Home of Rockingham County.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, July 29, 2012 at Mt. Bethel Covenant Church with Reverend Kevin Cochran officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Barham was born on June 14, 1927 in Rockingham County, NC to the late Walter T. and Bessie Snead Shelton. She graduated from Bethany School and had been a member of Mt. Bethel Covenant Church since 1936 where she served as a Sunday School teacher, treasurer and was a member of the choir from 1936 until 2006.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward J. Barham; a daughter, Marsha Harris and a son, Edward Wayne Barham.
She is survived by her daughter, Teresa Campbell and husband, Ricky of Summerfield; two grandchildren, Marsha Campbell and Stacey Stargardt (Sabian); two sisters, Frances Tiller (Joe) and Carolyn McCollum (Max), both of Summerfield.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m., Saturday, July 28, 2012, at Ray Funeral Home and all other times at her home at 810 Haynes Road, Summerfield, NC.
The family would like to thank Hospice Home of Rockingham County for the care and comfort they gave Mrs. Barham during her time with them.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Bethel Covenant Church Cemetery Fund, 8130 NC Highway 65, Summerfield, NC 27358.
