MOREHEAD CITY — Thomas Levi Noe of Morehead City, NC passed away on July 17 after a very brief stay at Hospice of Alamance County, surrounded by his loving family.

A funeral service with Masonic rites and military honors will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 22, at First United Methodist Church with the pastor, the Rev. Michael D. Frese, officiating.

Tommy was born in Beaufort, NC on August 24, 1918. He was the son of Charlie Noe and Daisy Willis Noe King and the stepson of Ralph D. King (all three deceased). He was preceded in death by his brother Charles B. Noe and wife Zada; and his sisters Thelma Noe Rains and husband Floyd; and Daisy Elizabeth Baker.

A veteran of WWII, he returned to Morehead City to open the Double-N-Drive-In where he met his wife-to-be, Mary Sue Tenney. His proposal of marriage came several years later in December of 1951. Shortly after her graduation from UNC-Chapel Hill, they were united in marriage on June 8, 1952.

Tommy owned a furniture and floor covering store and was a Carteret County Businessman for almost 70 years.

A servant at heart, Tommy was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church of Morehead City, where he worshipped our Lord, deepened his faith, and demonstrated a devotion to God that was an example to all who knew him. Tommy also was a Mason of longstanding at Ocean Lodge and a Paul Harris Fellow Rotarian. Tommy served the community in many capacities including Morehead City Planning Board and received the Mayor's Key to the Town of Morehead in recognition of his many contributions to the community.

Survivors: Survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Sue Tenney Noe and three daughters: Melanie Noe Woodard and husband Robert of Greensboro, NC; Aprille Noe Black and husband Keith of Greensboro, NC; and Mary Thomas Noe Gilbert and husband Dick of Burlington, NC; 11 grandchildren: Thomas Byrd; Melissa Byrd; Seth Woodard and wife Gina; Schaum Woodard; Sarah Woodard Hooker and husband Brian; Courtney Black and husband Marshall Camp; Britton Black and wife Simone; Allie Black Kelly and husband Ryan; Rick Gilbert; Tanner Gilbert; and Maxton Gilbert; two great grandchildren: Belle Rose Camp and Noe Roxanne Black; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

Visitation: The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First United Methodist Church, 900 Arendell Street, Morehead City, NC 28557.
