BURLINGTON June Morrow Frady James died on Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at Alamance Health Care Center, Burlington, NC, after several years of declining health.
A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 16 at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church.
June was born in Asheville, NC and completed high school there. She married Edwin Dale James of Oregon City, Oregon and enjoyed life between Asheville and many of Mr. James's duty stations during his naval career from Newport, Rhode Island; Mobile, Alabama; Cavite, Philippines; Annapolis, Maryland; to San Diego, California. In Annapolis the James were enthusiastic members of The Officers and Faculty Club of the US Naval Academy. June shined in activities with the Naval Academy Chapel Guild, coordinating dozens of "June Week" weddings and on projects and social events of the Severn Town Club there. After moving to McLeansville, NC to be near their son in Mr. James retirement, June was active and made many good friends at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church. She was an excellent cook, voracious reader, loved to garden, and traveled Europe, Canada and the Caribbean. June was a devoted mother, loyal friend and a gracious spirit.
She was predeceased by parents, Lawrence Moore Frady and Hallie Morrow Frady Jernigan and brother, Lawrence M. Frady of Asheville; sister, Katherine F. Bischoff of Punta Gorda, Florida; and husband, Edwin D. James.
She is survived by her son, Lawrence Morrow James and wife, Karen Bulla James of McLeansville.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Mt. Pleasant UMC, 5120 Burlington Rd., Greensboro, NC 27405.
