GREENSBORO — A caring and generous son, brother, uncle and friend, Robert Lee "Bob" Gibson, age 69, departed this life to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at his home after a long illness. Bob will be greatly missed by his family and friends, whose lives he brightened with his humor and love.

Born on October 20, 1942, Bob was the third child of the late Alma and Otis William Gibson. He attended Guilford County Schools and lived most of his life in the Greensboro area. Bob was a gifted interior designer and had a passion for fine art and art research. He was generous with his time and talents, and had a great gift for creating beautiful spaces. As family and friends know, he was one of a kind and never met a stranger. We will always remember his humor, strength and passion for life. Bob's impact will forever be in the hearts of those who knew him best.

He is survived by his sister, Joanne Gibson McMasters; his brother, Jerry "Dean" Gibson, both of Greensboro; former sister-in-law, Betty Reece of Greensboro; one niece, Susan Grigg and husband, Don of Summerfield; six nephews, Tony Gibson, Vance Gibson and wife, Christy, both of Greensboro; Ricky Gibson and wife Stacey of Richmond, Virginia; Mike McMasters and wife Trish of Liberty; Steve McMasters of Greensboro; and Mark McMasters and wife Holly of Greensboro; several great nieces and nephews; and his loyal companion, his little dog, Thumper, who was one of the greatest joys of Bob's life.

Bob was blessed with an amazing group of friends whom he cherished. A very special thank you to Barbra Kinney and Kay Lineberry, who loved Bob unconditionally and helped him tirelessly. Also thank you to Mose and Doris Kiser and Dr. Al Little for all of your kindness throughout Bob's life. Thank you to Carol Hufford who has been so gracious to assist with care for Thumper.

The family would like to extend deep and heartfelt appreciation to Hughes, Rick, Tony, Vance, Christy, Hospice & Palliative Care of Greensboro, and Blumenthal Jewish Nursing and Rehab Center who cared for Bob over the last few years. God provided for his every need through family, caring staff and amazingly devoted friends. His journey to heaven was long and hard, but we are thankful he is with the Lord in a new renewed body.

The family is planning a private memorial service at a later date to honor Bob's life. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Greensboro, 2500 Summit Avenue, Greensboro, NC 27405.
