
GREENSBORO - Herman Coy "Mac" McCall, born July 23, 1930, of Greensboro, NC, passed away during hospice care at Ashton Place Health and Rehab on July 3, 2012.
Mac was the son of Leslie L. McCall and (Lilly Paine) Flora E. McCall. He was predeceased by his wife Marjorie J. McCall (1991) and two sons, Richard E. Gagnon (1987) and David C. McCall (2004).
Mr. McCall is survived by his children; Shirley Wickson (Brian) of Las Vegas, James B. McCall (Candice) of Millville, MA, Rebecca Hicks of Templeton, MA, Robert W. McCall of Greensboro, NC, and Verrill L. Edwardsen (Brian) of Shrewsbury, MA; twelve grandchildren, two great grandchildren, three brothers, Harold C. McCall, Robert L. McCall and James E. McCall and sister Jenny R. Gardner.
While attending Berea College, Mr. McCall entered the Navy where he served in the Korean War. After his military service, he continued his education at East Tennessee State where he earned a Bachelors degree in History and a minor in Physical Education. Upon graduation, he became a well-loved high school teacher where he taught history, physical education and driver's education spending the majority of his teaching career
at Franklin High School in Franklin, MA. During this time, he also earned his Masters of Education at Boston State in Boston, MA.
Once retired, he was a proud member of the Masons in his home town of Greensboro. Mac's favorite pastime was golf and enjoyed many a fine day on the golf course with his good sense of humor.
Services for Mr. McCall will be at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at Forbis and Dick Guilford Chapel, 5926 W. Friendly Ave., Greensboro, NC.
Visitation will follow from 3:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m..
