GREENSBORO — Thomas Jerry McClellan passed away on June 28, 2012 at Beacon Place in Greensboro, N.C. after a long illness. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Charlotte, N.C.

Jerry was born on June 2, 1939 in Concord, N.C. to Blondia Liles McClellan and Thomas Alfred McClellan. Jerry grew up in El Paso, Texas and served briefly in the Army. Once honorably discharged, Jerry began a career as a drafting engineer, working in Atlanta, GA and Greensboro, NC.

Jerry was predeceased by his parents, Thomas A. McClellan and Blondia L. McClellan. He is survived by his sisters Peggy McClellan Deal (Jerry) and Vicki McClellan Crossman (Gerald), as well as grand-nieces Karen Deal Hornfeck (Dan), Dana Crossman Wilson (Hal), and grand-nephews Kevin Deal (Jennifer) and Andy Crossman (Lori). Great-grand nieces and great grand-nephews are: Katharine, Will and Elisabeth Hornfeck, Graham and Peyton Deal, Ryan and Megan Wilson, and Drew, Garrett and Amber Crossman.

The family wishes to thank all of the staff of Beacon Place who helped Jerry make his transition peacefully. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent to Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro, 2502 Summit Avenue, Greensboro, N.C. 27405.
