Barbara was born and grew up in Flushing, Queens and graduated as a Registered Nurse from the Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. As a Maternal Healthcare Coordinator for Guilford County, North Carolina, she tirelessly insured that many thousands of women would have healthy babies. From home visits covering the 645 square miles of the county, she unconditionally gave of her herself to women and families of all backgrounds. Barbara loved being a part of the 'Baby Love' program, and frequently went beyond her expected duties, ensuring that lights stayed on, and that healthy food, baby supplies and caring support were available to the most vulnerable in the community.
The Vasko family would like to give its gratitude to the wonderful people who helped them in their care of Barbara: Caregiver Veronica, and the staffs of Elderhaus, Pathways Hospice and Columbine West.
