


GREENSBORO Mr. Erlington I. Walter, 90, of Greensboro, died Saturday, May 5, 2012 at home in the presence of his children.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, May 18 at St. Paul The Apostle Catholic Church, Greensboro. Burial will follow on May 21 at 11 a.m. at the Brig. Gen.William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown, New Jersey.
Erle was retired from a Career in Retail. He served in the Army Air Corp. in Alaska during World War II. He was a communicant of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, Greensboro.
Born in Rome, New York, he lived in Middletown and Bayville, New Jersey before moving to Greensboro in 2006.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 "wonderful" years, Virginia Higgins Walter.
Mr. Walter is survived by a son, Bob of Greensboro; two daughters and two son-in-laws, Katie and Rich Baier of Greensboro and Betty and Jim Stevens of Clifton Va.; 11 grandchildren: Eleanor, Rob, Tom, Rick, Meredith, Cori, Chris, Kathryn, Jimmy, Megan and Patrick and 9 great grandchildren: Liam, Ryan, John, Charlie, Alice, Vera, Sophie, Peter and Lily.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Francis Springs Prayer Center, 477 Grogan Rd., Stoneville, NC 27408.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 17 at Hanes Lineberry, Elm St. Greensboro.
