GREENSBORO — Sheridan (Dan) David Artz, age 76 of Greensboro, NC passed away Thursday, April 12 at his home. He is survived by his loving wife, Rebecca (Becky); brother Richard (Barbara) Artz; his children: Greg, Rob (Jodi), Tim (Dana) Artz, Jacynthia (Jon) Mitchell; and his 8 grandchildren: Michael, Alexa, Jas, Natalie, Lydia, Addison, Zachary, & Davis; his mother-in-law, Dorothy Howell; brothers-in- law: Larry (Rose), Bob (Carol), Rick (Brenda) Howell; his sisters-in-law: Darla Howell, Katha (Enos) Henderson; and his beloved dog, Shatzee. A resident of North Carolina since 1993, Dan was born in Marion, OH, on March 11, 1936, to the late Fredrick and Genevieve (Mattox) Artz. Dan was a graduate of Marion Harding High School class of 1954 and received his degree from Defiance College in 1959. Dan remained active in the Class of 1954 reunion planning, and while at Defiance College, was a member of the Kappa Sigma Kappa Fraternity.

Dan worked at Fulfillment Corporation of America, later Kable Fulfillment, where he started in 1960 and retired in 2007 as Senior Vice President of Sales. During his distinguished career, he received several achievement awards including induction into the Fulfillment Managers Association Hall of Fame in 2002, and recognition by the United States Postal Service for his career contributions to the U.S. Postal Customer Council. Dan was active in his community as a charter member and past president of the Marion Evening Chapter of Lion's Club, Marion, OH, as well as a charter member of Flywheels Car Club of Marion. He served in the Ohio National Guard, was a member of Marion Country Club, and treasurer at Epworth United Methodist Church. More recently, Dan served as President of the Stone Gables Homeowners Association, Greensboro, NC, and was an active member of St. Mark's Church in Burlington, NC. Dan was a cancer survivor, an avid UNC fan, and a lifelong car enthusiast.

Friends are invited to Lowe Funeral Home, 2205 South Church Street, Burlington, NC, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 17 with Funeral Services at St. Mark's Church, Burlington, NC, on Wednesday, April 18, at 11 a.m. Ohio friends are asked to join the family on Thursday, April 19 from 4 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Denzer-Farrison-Hottinger and Snyder Funeral Home, 360 East Center Street, Marion, OH, and are invited to attend Dan's graveside memorial service at Marion Cemetery at 10 a.m. Friday, April 20.

Donations in Dan's honor may be made to: Moses H. Cone Cardiac ICU Department, Greensboro, NC, Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro, or the faith community of your choice.
