GREENSBORO — Raymond" Ray" Gartelmann, 96, died peacefully on March 28, 2012 at Beacon Place.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Ray Gartelmann was born October 19, 1915 to the late Richard and Martha Gartleman. He graduated from Cornell University and worked as a salesman for Warren Pumps for many years. He was a member of the Hempstead Harbor Sailing Club, NY and the Bermuda Run Country Club, NC. He was an avid golfer and tennis player. Ray was a gentleman, as well as a gentle and kind man and loved crossword puzzles.

He was preceded in death by his wife and parents. Ray is survived by three children, Susan Welchman and husband Gary of Greensboro, Peter Gartelmann and wife Jamie of Schooley's Mountain, NJ and Richard Gartelmann and wife Muffin of Long Valley, NJ; eight grandchildren, Jane Stephens, Elizabeth and John Welchman, Rory and Alex Gartelmann, Reid, Jesse, and Christopher Gartlemann; and twelve great-grandchildren, Jack, Charlie, Lilly, Ben, Alice, Gavin, Cora, Jesse, Sam, Lars, Bryn and Roman.

The family wishes to thank all his friends and family.
