GREENSBORO — Mrs. Mary Swaney McClure, 87, of Greensboro, departed from this life on Sunday, January 29, 2012, at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, February 3, 2012, at Gilmore Memorial Park, in Julian, with Lee Ellis and Cecil Donahue, as the officiating clergy.

Born in Greensboro, July 31, 1924, to the late James and Mary Ann Swaney, Mrs. McClure was a member of Alamance Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed attending church and Sunday school, until her health began to diminish. Mary was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She was an avid reader, had a talent for quilting and sewing, and enjoyed canning the produce her husband used to grow in their garden. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Making memories with all her "babies" was her favorite pass time. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Carlyle H. McClure; three sisters; and her brother.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Cynthia Morris and her husband Keith of Greensboro, Roger McClure and his wife Jeanne of Ohio, Lisa Cox and her husband Greg of Julian, and Lori Cimler and her husband Bill of Charlotte; sister, Dorothy Green and her husband Doug of Greensboro; grandchildren, Alison Francis and husband Jason, Melissa Buckalew and husband David, Jason McClure and fiancée Holly, Scott Morris and wife Jordan, Lauren Cox, Brandon Cox, Madison Cimler, and Anna Cimler; and great-grandchildren, Will, Logan, Sam, Evan, and Landon.

The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 p.m. Thursday evening February 2, 2012, at Hanes-Lineberry Vanstory Chapel.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Ashton Place Health and Rehab for the excellent care and compassion they gave to their mother during this past year.
