CHARLOTTE Christine Diamont Schoolfield Flynn, 91, formerly of Gibsonville passed away Sunday, November 1, 2009 at Carolinas Medical Center University.
She was the wife of the late Clarence Granville Schoolfield and the late Lee Oscar Flynn. Christine was born May 31, 1918 in Alamance County to the late James Robert Lee Diamont and the late Nellie Harriet Whitesell Diamont. She was a life long resident of Gibsonville and a member of First Baptist Church of Gibsonville where she had served as a Sunday school teacher and Sunday school secretary. She worked for Cone Mills at the Minneola and White Oak Plants for over 38 years.
Survivors include her daughter, Judy Schoolfield (J. Edward) Capps of Charlotte, grandchildren, Kristi Dawn Capps (Dimitri Trubchanov) of Cincinnati, Ohio, Stuart Ryan (Carson) Capps of Wilmington, Clarence Wiley (Lenore) Schoolfield and Brittany Schoolfield (Shane) King; great grandchildren, James Schoolfield and Jake Edward Capps and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husbands, parents, son, Clarence G. "Husky" Schoolfield, Jr., sister, Vera Younger and brother, David Elijah Diamont.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Julian Griffin with interment to follow in Gibsonville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
