WHITSETT — Mr. Harvey Gene Hurley, 71 of Whitsett passed away on November 3, 2009 at Moses Cone Hospital.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday November 6, 2009 at McConnell Road Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Harvey was born in Randolph County on February 19, 1938 to the late Harvey W. and Myrtle Woodell Hurley. Mr. Hurley was a retired crane operator with O'Neal Steel. He retired in 2005 with 27 years of service. He was a longtime resident of Whitsett and also a longtime member of McConnell Road Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Gladys Williams Hurley of the home, his children, Donna Robinson of Brown Summit, Glenda Hurley of Graham, Michelle Somers of the home, Gary Hurley,Sr of Southport, NC , Glen Hurley and wife Marla of Whitsett and Gordon Hurley and wife Jessie of Julian. Sisters, Cora Beane and husband John of Asheboro, Brenda Sanders of New London, NC, Dianne Woffard and husband Keith and Helen Brady and husband Randy and Shirley Brady and husband Mike all of Elon, Betty Locklear and husband David of Trinity, brothers, Worth Hurley and wife Joyce of Seagrove, Vernon Hurley of Asheboro, Charles Hurley of Denton and John Hurley and wife Lori of Whitsett. Five grandchildren and one great grandchild. He is preceded in death by his brothers Robert and George Hurley.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday at Forbis & Dick North Elm Street Funeral Home.
