
CLIMAX Mr. William Pal "Bill" Helms, 76, passed away on Thursday, January 17, 2013 at Clapp's Nursing Center.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday at Grace Baptist Church and interment will follow at Bethlehem United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Bill was born in Anson Co. on May 27, 1936. He retired as maintenance supervisor with Precision Fabrics after 43 years of service. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, boating, fishing, gardening and just being outdoors. He loved playing his guitar and traveling with gospel groups, the Christianaires and the Pioneers. Bill always cared for others and will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Lola Hunt Helms; son, William Helms; sisters, Louise Simpson and Marilyn McDaniels; brothers, Lewis High and Leroy Helms.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Veta Allen Helms; children, Travis, Teresa, Daniel and Andrea; sister, Rebecca Beasley; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and several extended family members.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Saturday at Forbis & Dick Pleasant Garden Chapel and other times at the home.
