EDEN — Mr. William Eugene "Bill" Slaughter, 65, of 507 Orchard Drive passed away Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at the Hospice Home of Rockingham County.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 17, 2012 at Pleasant View Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Mr. Slaughter was born in Ridgeway, Virginia on March 18, 1947, a son of Bessie Kingrey Slaughter and the late Jasper Lee Slaughter. He was a self-employed carpet installer. He was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Edwards Slaughter of the home; his children, Barry Slaughter and wife Angela of Reidsville, Rodney Slaughter and wife Leland, Sherrie Slaughter and Jeff Slaughter and wife Dawn, all of Eden; his mother, Bessie Slaughter of Eden; his sisters, Bonnie Jarrell and Kathy Hodgson and husband Ron, all of Eden; his brothers, Luke Slaughter and wife Nancy of Eden, George Slaughter and wife Robin of Ridgeway and Roger Slaughter of Eden, his eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m.until 9 p.m. on Thursday, August 16, 2012 at Pleasant View Baptist Church and other times at the home.
