EDEN — Walter "Walt" Herbert Hall, 81, of 537 Dogwood Dr., Eden, NC, formerly of Martinsville, died Friday, November 21, 2012 at Morehead Memorial Hospital, Eden, NC.
Born May 16, 1931 at Redwood, VA, Walt was a son of the late Fred Newton Hall and Hettie Amos Hall and was the husband of Jane Blackman Hall who survives. Walt was predeceased by a sister, Melba Hall Lynch and by three brothers, Frank Hall, Sam Hall and Alvin Hall.
Walt was retired from the United States Air Force and was a member of Ridgeway United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Piedmont Masonic Lodge #152 A.F. & A.M.
In addition to his wife of the home, Walt is survived by a daughter, Polly Hall Black of Woodbridge, VA; a son and daughter-in-law, Mark Steven Hall and wife Sandy of Eden, NC; four sisters, Hazel Barker of Martinsville, Lula Craddock of Stuart, Joyce Shively of Roanoke and June Stanley of Lexington, VA; a brother Thomas Hall of Martinsville; five grandchildren, Cassie Hall of Eden, Matt Hall of Greensboro, Kara Burns and husband Jimmy of Raleigh, Kayla Black and Shawn Black both of Woodbridge; by two great-grandchildren, Kenna Hall Wilson and Adara Hall Wilson both of Eden, NC.
The funeral will be conducted from the Martinsville Chapel of Norris Funeral Services and Crematory, Saturday, November 24, 2012 at 12 p.m. with Reverend Jim Wilson officiating. Interment will be in Roselawn Burial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. prior to the service and at other times will be at the home.
