
STONEVILLE Mrs. Virginia "Ginny" Smith, 89, of 311 Settlement Loop went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at Jacob's Creek Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, November 23, 2012 at Ridge-View Memorial Gardens.
Ginny was born in Stoneville on October 25, 1923, the daughter of Robert Vance and Carrie Carter Price, both deceased. Ginny was blessed with the gift of taking care of others. She shared her gift through working as a nurse's aide, first at Tri-City Hospital and then at Morehead Memorial Hospital, retiring with over 30 years of service. She was a member of Providence Baptist Church. Ginny loved her church family and attended as long as her health allowed.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Gordon Smith; and her brothers, Robert Price, Alton Price and Clarence Price.
She is survived by her sons, Gordon Michael Smith and wife Carolyn and her daughter Rachel, and Robert Terry Smith and wife Melinda, all of Stoneville; her grandchildren, Chad Smith and wife Emily of Jamestown, Sally Smith Romano of Kernersville, and Adam Smith and wife Amanda of Reidsville; her great grandchildren, Savannah, Sullivan, Huston, Andrew and Abigail; her close nieces and their spouses, June and Sherrill Grubb, and Tina and Kenny Kirkman; and special friend of the family, Bobby Hampton.
The family wishes to express their appreciation to all of the caregivers who assisted during her illness.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. on Friday at Boone & Cooke, Inc. Funeral Home prior to processing to the cemetery for the service and other times at the residence.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the local church of the donor's choice.
