REIDSVILLE — Virginia Cardwell Apple, 90, of 1207 Morgan Drive Reidsville, NC died July 20, 2012 at the Hospice Home of Rockingham County.
Known as "Nana" to those she loved best, she maintained her sweet and thankful spirit until the end of her earthly life. Wise confidante to many, staunch prayer warrior and committed Sunday School teacher describe some of the many ways she lived out her faith in God and her love for the Lord Jesus.
Mrs. Apple was born on September 5, 1921, to Charles C. and Claire Kallam Cardwell of Madison, NC . She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-six years, John A. Apple, Sr.; her son, John A. Apple , Jr.; her daughter-in-law, Judy Stallings Apple; an infant daughter, Janet Apple; and a brother, Charles Cardwell.
Surviving are her daughter, Jan Apple Johnson and her husband, Dr. Jeff Johnson of Reidsville, NC; grandchildren, Josh Apple and his wife Brianna Apple of Cary, NC who gave Nana the precious gift of a great grandson, John A. Apple, IV; Joanna Johnson Beutel and her husband, Captain Hans Beutel of Lillington, NC; and Wesley Johnson of Greensboro, NC; sister, Jo Ann Williams and husband Lee Tucker of Madison, NC; and many loving nieces and nephews and their spouses.
A memorial service will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday July 22, 2012 at Woodmont United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall of the church.
