GREENSBORO — Vincent Emil Coll, Jr., a resident of Greensboro passed away on Friday, March 15, 2013 at his home, surrounded by his loving family, after a long battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP).

Vincent was born on June 2, 1943 in Durham. He graduated from Ragsdale High School in 1961. He served in the US Army before going to work at Jefferson Standard Life in 1965. He graduated from Guilford College as a Dana Scholar in 1976. He retired from Lincoln Financial Group in 2008, after 43 years of service. He was an avid golfer. He loved watching sports, especially golf, baseball and the Carolina Tar Heels.

Vincent is predeceased by his parents, Vincent Emil Coll, Sr. and Mary Goodwin Coll and brother-in-law, Benny Danley.

Vincent is survived by his loving wife of almost 42 years, who faithfully cared for him as his health declined, Ellen Whitesell Coll; daughters, Jamie Coll of Greensboro and Meredith Coll and partner Chris Newsom of San Francisco, CA; brothers, Jon Coll and wife Blanche of Mooresville, Jim Coll and wife Joann of Greensboro; sister, Mary Beth Danley of Sandy Ridge; brother-in-law, Butch Whitesell and wife Betty of Taylorsville and many nieces, nephews and cousins who he dearly loved.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel conducted by the Reverend Patrick Fuller. Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Vincent's family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the wonderful staff of Amedysis Hospice for all their loving care and support during Vincent's illness.
