
REIDSVILLE Vera Vaughn Stanfield, 85, of 2902 US Hwy 158 East Reidsville, N.C. went to be with the Lord Wednesday July 4, 2012 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday July 6, 2012 in Citty Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Reidlawn Cemetery.
A native of Rockingham County she was a daughter of the late William Percy and Lucy Wall Vaughn and had lived in the Lawsonville Community of Rockingham County her entire life. She was the owner/manager of the Town Shop, a ladies dress shop in downtown Reidsville, from 1970 until 1997. A former employee of Glen Raven Mills, she was a frequent world traveler and attended First Congregational Christian Church. A former member of the Lawsonville Road Extension Homemakers Club, she had held offices in the Lawsonville Community Development Association. Vera was preceded in death by her brother Billy Vaughn.
Surviving: Her husband of 64 years: William Alvis Stanfield, son: Danny Stanfield and wife Anne of Reidsville, NC, grandchildren: Jennifer Lynn Stanfield and Jacob Lee Stanfield both of Reidsville, NC, sisters: Helen V. Stanfield and husband Paul of Danville, VA, Marie V. Swift and husband Herbert of Elon, NC, Linda V. Tate and husband Jerry of Wilmington, NC.
The family will see friends one hour before the service from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. Friday July 6, 2012 at Citty Funeral Home.
