GREENSBORO — Dr. Timothy Eugene Davis, 67, died peacefully at home, surrounded by family. Tim was born in Barnhardt, Missouri but grew up in Altheimer, Arkansas. He was the son of Miriam and Grover Davis.

Tim received his medical degree at the University of Arkansas For Medical Sciences in 1971, did his internship at the University of Alabama, and residency at Baptist Memorial Hospital, Memphis, Tennessee before establishing his practice in Greensboro. He retired as a partner of Central Carolina Surgery, P.A. in 2010. Dr. Davis was a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Dedication to the health and safety of his patients was Dr. Davis' top priority in his career. Outside of his medical practice, Tim was locally famous for his garden, growing coveted tomatoes, herbs, and roses. Sue and Tim loved escaping to their home in Pinehurst, North Carolina for Tim's favorite pastime of fishing.

He is survived by wife, Sue Donathan White; sister, Ellen Rush and husband Charles; uncle, Tom Lyon and wife Augusta; children, Scott Burgin and wife Elizabeth, Shannon Kemp and husband Mike, Joshua Davis, Jeffrey Davis and wife Sharon, Elizabeth Tisdale and husband Xan; grandchildren, Julia Burgin, Simone Burgin, Leah Burgin, Olivia Kemp, Sophia Kemp, Samuel Kemp, Boyd Tisdale, Reece Tisdale and Finley Tisdale.

The family will receive friends at Hanes Lineberry Funeral Home on Monday, October 29, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. A service to celebrate Tim's life will be on Tuesday, October 30, at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 300 N. Greene St., Greensboro, at 2 p.m. Immediately following the service, the family will receive friends in the Haywood Duke Room.

We especially want to thank our dear friend, Dr. Jennifer Garst, and the medical team at The Duke Cancer Institute, as well as Dr. Jim Granfortuna of Cone Health.
