GREENSBORO — Thomas Williams Merritt, 65, passed away on February 10, 2013 at Moses Cone Hospital.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 14, 2013 at 2 p.m. at West Market Street United Methodist Church with Rev. Bill Ellison officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn cemetery.
Thomas was born in Greensboro, NC to the late Dr. and Mrs. J. Fred Merritt. He worked as a biomedical engineer with LabCorp for twenty years and then with Select Laboratory Partners. Thomas was mechanically inclined and could repair most anything. He loved High Rock Lake and boats. He had a passion for Carolina basketball and antique cars, especially Packards.
He was a devoted father; brother; grandfather; and uncle and was always there to help whenever he was needed. He made us laugh and smile with his lovable sense of humor and quick one- liners. He will be missed terribly and never forgotten.
Thomas is survived by his daughters, Karen Merritt Little and husband Christopher of Winchester, VA; twins, Ashley Clark and Andrea Marie Merritt both of Greensboro; brother, John Merritt and wife Lisa of Greensboro; grandson Thomas Haynes Little; nephews Jesse F. Merritt of Greensboro and Gregory P. Merritt of Charlotte; nieces Arden R. Merritt and Meghan Kendall Merritt of Greensboro, and his beloved golden retriever, Tess.
The family will visit with friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 1 p.m.
