WALNUT COVE — Steve Kenneth Barlow, 63, of 1571 Hickory Fork Road, died Thursday, July 19, 2012, at home.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, July 22, 2012, at Colonial Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Randy Jessup officiating.

Interment will follow in Ayersville Baptist Church cemetery with military honors provided by Rockingham County Honor Guard.

Mr. Barlow was born June 17, 1949, in Upson County, GA, to Doris Martin Barlow and the late Kenneth Rudolph Barlow. He was a Vietnam, US Army veteran and felt it was an honor walking through Arlington National Cemetery while assigned to duties at the Pentagon. Steve was owner of Checkers Grill and Grocery in Madison and thoroughly enjoyed working with produce and landscaping at his new home. Mr. Barlow was caring, generous and supportive of community events. He loved his family, especially his grandson, Tag.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by brother, Ronnie Barlow, and sister, Glenda Burns.

Survivors include, along with his mother, his wife of 37 years, Wanda Gatewood Barlow; son, S. Todd Barlow and wife, Angela, of Sandy Ridge; daughter, Jessica Beth Martin and husband, John, of Charlotte; sister, Mary Smith and husband, Lowell, of Mayodan; half-brother, Amiel Mounce of Madison; and grandson, Tag Barlow.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m., Saturday, July 21, 2012, at Colonial Funeral Home and all other times at the home of Todd Barlow, 1187 Sandy Lane, Sandy Ridge.

Memorials may be made to Stokes-Rockingham Fire Department and Rescue Squad, PO Box 61, Pine Hall, NC 27042 and Madison-Rockingham Rescue Squad, 204 East Murphy Street, Madison, NC 27025.

Colonial Funeral Home in Madison is serving the family.
