BROWN SUMMIT — Sharon Caldwell Thurmond, 65, passed away Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at Wesley Long Hospital.
A 2 p.m. memorial service will be held Saturday, March 2, 2013 at Forbis and Dick North Elm Street Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m.
Sharon was born in Roanoke, VA on June 24, 1947 to the late Ralph and Viola Caldwell. She was a member of Lees Chapel United Methodist Church. In addition, she was a graduate of Page High School in Greensboro, NC and worked as an accountant for the APW Corporation. Sharon was a loving mother, wife and grandmother. Her main goal was to serve her family.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Caldwell.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Paul L. Thurmond, Jr. She is also survived by a daughter, Shanna Thurmond Reece (husband Chris) as well as a son, Paul Daniel Thurmond (wife Cali). In addition, she is survived by grandchildren Wilson Paul Reece, Reagan Victoria Reece and Madilyn Ann Thurmond. Other survivors include a sister-in-law, Sharon Ann Canham.
