GREENSBORO Ms. Sandra Jean Curtis, 64, died Tuesday, February 12, 2013.
Ms. Curtis was born in Greensboro, North Carolina on July 1, 1948 to the late J. Norman Curtis and Jean McLennan Curtis. She was a graduate of Grimsley High School and received A.A. Degrees Brevard College and Shorter College. Ms. Curtis had recently retired as Director of Human Resources for Lowes Home Improvement. She had spent many years volunteering for various Women and Children's Charities. Ms. Curtis was part of a Missions Team leaving for Africa this summer to work with the clean water initiative and help mentor young women. Ms. Curtis was instrumental in having McIver Education Center in Greensboro, North Carolina chosen as Lowes Home Improvement "Miracles Project" in 2012. A project which led to the improvement of the facilities for the students and teachers of this special needs school.
She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Greensboro along with being a charter member of Grace United Church in Greensboro. She is currently a member of Philadelphia United Methodist Church in Fort Mill, SC.
Surviving Ms. Curtis, her sister Catherine M. Curtis of Charlotte, NC, her Aunt Marie McLennan of Pleasant Garden, NC and her son's J. Scott Grubbs of Greensboro, NC and Andrew Jacob Grubbs and wife Deborah of Gibsonville, NC and her Grandchildren Jacob M. Grubbs, Andrew C. Grubbs, Allan and Kaitlyn Cook and Ryan Shaney.
Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday February 16, 2013 at Palmetto Funeral Home in Fort Mill, SC.
In lieu of flowers and in honor of Ms. Curtis donations may be made to the Guilford County, NC Special Olympics or please contact the Missions Committee from Philadelphia UMC in Fort Mill, SC 1691 S. Carolina 160 Fort Mill, SC 29708, for their trip to Africa Summer 2013.
