GREENSBORO — Robert M. Scott, 78, died on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at Wesley Long Hospital.

A Celebration of Life Service officiated by David C. Partington, will be held at First Presbyterian Church, Greensboro on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at 2 p.m. The family wilt receive visitors afterwards in the Virginia Gilmer Room.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Karl Raymond and Helen Matthews Scott, previously of Greensboro and Raleigh. He is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Barbara Wilson Scott; daughters Rebecca Scott Hollowell of Greensboro, Martha Scott McGough (William) of Reidsville, and son Robert M. Scott II (Sarah) of Green Mountain, NC.

He is also survived by grandchildren, Elizabeth McGough Barbee (Ben); Ashley Buehler McGough; Caroline Scott McGough; William Marion McGough, III; Scott David Hollowell; and Eleanor Reine Scott. Bob has one brother, James Morton Scott, USAF (retired Major) married to Louise of Port Orange, FL.

Raised in Greensboro, Bob graduated from Greensboro Senior High School and studied at UNC-CH. He worked at Sears Catalog Distribution Center in purchasing, operating and personnel in supervising positions. Later he worked at M&M Supply as warehouse manager.

Bob was a member of First Presbyterian Church for over 55 years, and was a former Deacon. He greatly enjoyed his association with the Greensboro Jaycees, and was a Vice President at the time the chapter was rated number one in the world and he was voted a Life Member,

He was a kind, quiet man who loved his family, and was an ardent Tar Heel fan. He enjoyed woodworking, especially making birdhouses and stools. He also enjoyed spending time at the beach, reading and working in the yard.
