GREENSBORO — Robert Blair Goodman, 57, of Greensboro, died August 7, at Hospice Home at High Point.

Born and raised in Greensboro, Blair was a proud Grimsley graduate. He went on to Western Carolina University, where he played on the tennis team and earned a bachelor's degree in business administration.

He worked in human resources for Burlington Industries in Durham for a number of years before returning to Greensboro in 1987. Blair was a financial services advisor for 25 years, the last several of which he spent with DMJ Wealth Advisors in Greensboro. He was an active member of the Society of Financial Services Professionals and the Greensboro Estate Planning Council.

Volunteering was a passion of Blair's. He loved promoting Greensboro and its sporting events during his 13-year membership in the Greensboro Sports Council, receiving the President's Award in 2006 and also serving as a board member. Blair was also an active member of the Tournament Hosts Committee since its inception in 1995, chairing the Team Host committee for a several years. Blair hosted the Duke women's basketball team at the ACC Tournament for 14 years and most recently added the Duke women's golf team to his hosting duties. In addition he served as a host for the ACC Men's Basketball Tournament, NCAA Women's and Men's Basketball, ACC Baseball, NCAA Soccer Championships, and the USYSA Southern Regionals.

Blair was so proud of his daughters, Carey and Bess, and their accomplishments. He loved all the many soccer trips in his blue Suburban, traveling to games and tournaments for Twisters, Grimsley, Duke and Sewanee. Time spent with his kids was his greatest joy.
