WILMINGTON — Rachel Vernon Bame of Wilmington, NC and formerly of Kure Beach, NC died Friday, March 8, 2013 at The Lower Cape Fear Hospice and Life Care Center.
She was born June 15, 1921 in Stoneville, NC to the late John Martin Vernon and Eugenia Robertson Vernon. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Wilson Bame in 1987.
Surviving are her daughter, Brenda Bame Barnes and husband Larry of Greensboro, NC; two sons, Ernest Donald Bame and wife Louise of Mullins, SC, and Philip Wilson Bame and wife Diane of Wilmington, NC; eight grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, March 11, 2013 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Carolina Beach, NC with Rev. Shawn Blackwelder and Rev. Paul Phillips officiating. A private burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall following the service.
