
GREENSBORO Mr. Presley Carlton Proffitt, age 80, passed away on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital. A memorial service for Mr. Proffitt will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, February 11, 2013 at the Greensboro Christian Church on Yanceyville Street.
Mr. Proffitt was born to Marion and Maude Proffitt in Lynchburg, Virginia. He was married to Jessie Roland Proffitt who predeceased him in 2009. Employed as a truck driver for Branch Motor Express for many years, Mr. Proffitt was a Union Shop Steward of Teamsters #391. He was active in the local Democratic Party. He was an avid country music and NASCAR fan.
Mr. Proffitt is predeceased by his wife, his parents, and two brothers. He is survived by his children, Janet Shipton of Greensboro, Philip Proffitt of Greensboro, and Melody Proffitt (Bobby Johnson) of Summerfield; grandchildren Aaron Proffitt and Cody Mabry; brother Malcolm Proffitt, sisters Rachael Ritch and Nancy Phillips.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday evening at Forbis and Dick North Elm Street Chapel.
