SUMMERFIELD — Mrs. Peggy Simpson Doss, 79, passed away on Tuesday, February 12, 2013, at Moses Cone Hospital.
Mrs. Doss' funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday at Liberty Wesleyan Church with Rev. Danny Janes officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
A Guilford County native, Mrs. Doss was born on March 28, 1933, the daughter of the late William E. and Nell Moore Simpson. She was a graduate of Summerfield High School, a charter member of Fellowship Presbyterian Church in Greensboro, but attended Liberty Wesleyan Church where they attended growing up. She worked many years as an executive secretary at Jefferson Standard Insurance, and then at Summerfield Elementary School as secretary.
Surviving are her son Rich Doss and his wife, Alison, of Summerfield; a sister Francis Welborn of Summerfield; three grandchildren Alaina Doss, Candice McDonald, and Michael McDonald; two great grandchildren Mikela McDonald and Anthony Johnson; her beloved pet and four-legged companion Marley; as well as a dear friend and "second daughter" Lisa Harrell, and sister-in-law Becky Simpson, and several nieces and nephews..
She was preceded in death by her husband Thaddeus C. Doss; daughter O'lora Doss McDonald; sister Irene Dixon; and brothers Lonnie Simpson and J.W. Simpson.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening, February 14, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Forbis & Dick Brooke Chapel.
