GREENSBORO Paul Teich of Greensboro, NC, passed away at home on March 13, 2013 after a long illness.
A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, March 16 at 1 p.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 2205 West Market St., Greensboro, NC. Paul's family will receive guests on Friday, March 15 at Our Lady of Grace Church from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
Paul was born in Chicago, Illinois to the late Armand and Kathryn Martin Teich on March 14, 1950. After a long career as a master plumber, including 15 years at John's Plumbing in Greensboro, Paul was ordained a permanent deacon for the Charlotte diocese on July 1, 1995. As a deacon, Paul was privileged to serve the needs of the congregation of Our Lady of Grace and to preach the Gospel until his health deteriorated. Paul will be long remembered for his preaching. His ability to synthesize Scripture through the filter and experience of a workingman touched many. He leaves a legacy of service and love for the Church.
Paul is survived by his wife of 35 years, Annie, his sons Matthew (Kelly) of Chicago and Patrick (Shannon) of Las Vegas; and his beautiful granddaughters Zoe and Phoebe. He was a special man who was well loved and will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Hospice of Greensboro. The care, friendship, and support of Hospice allowed Paul to remain comfortably at home in their care during the last six months of his life.
