
SUMMERFIELD Mrs. Mary Lois Clayton, 74, passed away on Thursday afternoon, August 2, 2012, at Countryside Manor.
A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, August 5, at Hillsdale Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, with Elder William L. Knight officiating.
A Guilford County native, Mrs. Clayton was born on November 12, 1937, the daughter of the late Floyd and Hazel Breedlove Jones. She was a homemaker and loved animals, especially her cats. She enjoyed working in her garden and tending to her flowers. She was preceded in death by three husbands, the last being Bill Clayton whom she loved dearly and has now been reunited. She was also preceded in death by brothers Charles Jones, Lawrence Jones and Richard Jones.
Surviving are her children Michael D. Ballard of Greensboro, Sharon B. Carter and husband, Cliff, of Pinnacle, Jerry A. Ballard of Greensboro, and Lisha B. Gibson and husband, Herb Jr. of Summerfield; sisters Thelma Alley of Summerfield and Judy Jones of Liberty; brother Billy R. Jones of Summerfield; three grandchildren Michael 'Chad' Ballard, Christopher L. Gibson, and Stephanie G. Davis; and four great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends this evening, Saturday, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Forbis & Dick Brooke Chapel, 8320 US Highway 158 in Stokesdale.
