GREENSBORO — Mary Brown Allenberg, 86, a resident of Greensboro died Wednesday May 23, 2012 after a period of declining health. She was born June 22, 1925 in Greensboro, the daughter of Robert Hill Brown Sr., and Minnie Melissa Moore Brown. Mary graduated second in her class at Silk Hope High School in Chatham County. After graduating from high school she moved to Miami, FL and worked in the Miami area for 25 years before moving back to Greensboro where she worked for more than 25 years with the Guilford County Finance Dept. before retiring. She was of the Pentecostal faith.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Glenn Brown, John Henry Brown and Robert Hill Brown, Jr.
Surviving is one brother, Jesse T. Brown and wife Tommie of Greensboro; two nieces and one nephew.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel conducted by Reverend Marion Boling. Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel on Wednesday morning from 10 a.m. until service time.
