LIBERTY — Martha Eury Bigham, 83, of Liberty, died Thursday, March 14, 2013, at her home surrounded by family.

A memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church in Liberty at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 18, 2013. The service will be conducted by Reverend Gene Dean, Reverend Jack Kaylor, and Reverend Mark Sills.

Martha was born on July 2, 1929, in Cabarrus County, the fourth child of Noah Alexander Eury and Sara Elizabeth Connor Eury. She is survived by her husband, Reverend William O. Bigham of Liberty; her three sons and their wives, Alex and Jackie Bigham of Liberty, Joseph and Vera Bigham of Greensboro, Stephen and Angie Bigham of Liberty; two sisters, Elizabeth Connor Barrier of Mt. Pleasant, NC and Mae Eury Vanderburg of Concord, NC; grandchildren Josianne and Jerry Campbell, Ellie and Justin Parone, Laraleigh and Challis Moffitt, Avery and Chrissie Bigham, Brittney and Ben Scott, Bradley and Kayla Bigham, Connor and Collin Bigham, great-grandchildren Parker Leigh Scott, Jackson Scott, Lila Grace Scott, Fletcher Hundley Moffitt, and Jayden Drye.

Martha attended Pfeiffer College and graduated from Greensboro College. She served in the Methodist Church tirelessly her whole life, including a missionary assignment with her husband in Brazil from 1959 until 1969. She devoted her life to the church, family and extended family. She was a teacher by nature and loved the children and people of her family and the communities that she lived in. She was a teacher in the NC Public school system for over 20 years.

She will be reunited with her children, David and Anna Bigham, and other family members that preceded her. It will be a joyous reunion.

The family requests, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Hospice of Randolph County, Moses Cone Cancer Center, Greensboro Urban Ministry of any in her memory.

Forbis and Dick North Elm Street is serving the Bigham family.
