EDEN — Miss Marion Frances Matthews, 85, of 246 Smith Acres Road passed away on Friday afternoon, February 1, 2013 at Morehead Memorial Hospital.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, February 4, 2013 at the Overlook Mausoleum.
Marion was born in Leaksville, NC on November 28, 1927, a daughter of Harold W. Matthews, Sr. and Ruby Ferguson Matthews, both deceased. She received her nursing training at City Hospital in Winston Salem. She was employed by, and retired from, McGuire Veterans Hospital after 29 years of service. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Eden.
She is survived by her brothers, Harold W. Matthews, Jr. and wife, Dorothy; and James W. Matthews and wife, Betty, all of Eden; her nephews, Edward Matthews of Atlanta, Georgia, and Michael Matthews of Lexington, NC; her niece, Cheryl Nooe of Eden; by her numerous cousins; and by her caregiver and special friend, Pat Law.
The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Sunday, February 3, 2013 at Boone & Cooke, Inc. Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the First Presbyterian Church Building Fund, 582 Southwood Drive, Eden, NC 27288
