MCLEANSVILLE — Kathryn "Kay" Bostick Smith, 89, passed away on January 1, 2013 after a long illness with Alzheimer's. She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Fred O. Smith and her children Sharon Stephenson, Ronald Smith and Susan Smoot, also seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was born in Georgia in 1923, but grew up in Greensboro, N.C. She lived for 35 years on Long Island, N.Y. and for the past 35 years in North Carolina. Kay had wonderful times bowling, playing golf, working in the soup kitchen on East Lee St. and with kids at Monticello-Brown Summit Elementary School.
She instilled a sense of family, purpose and was always striving to have each of her children do their best.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday Jan. 4, 2013 at Hines Chapel Church
Interment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park, 3600 N. O'Henry Blvd. Greensboro, NC The Family will receive friends just prior to the service from 10:30 a.m. until 11:15 a.m. at Hines Chapel Church 4476 Hines Chapel Rd. McLeansville, NC 27301

Kathryn "Kay" was preceded in death by her mother Macie H. Bostick, brother Paul (Pete) Bostick and sister Eloise (Teny) Holt.
