GREENSBORO — Joyce Owens Andrews, 77, went home to her Lord and Savior on Friday, June 15 at Friends Home at Guilford surrounded by her family.
Joyce was born on May 3, 1935 in High Point, the daughter of Elborn and Cassie Owens. She married James Donald Andrews on Sept. 21, 1961. Joyce was a nurse for all of her working life and even after retirement spent much time caring for those she loved. Her greatest joy in life were her children and grandchildren.
Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, James Donald "J.D." Andrews and brothers, Dick Owens and Don Owens. Surviving are her son, Scott Andrews and wife Lisa of Whitsett, NC and daughter, Donna Shaw and husband Kirk of Summerfield, NC; grandchildren, Kaitlyn Shaw, Shelby Andrews, Landon Shaw; sister, Linda Shaw of Greensboro, NC and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel. A Celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, 2 p.m. in the Chapel at Friends Home at Guilford, Woodman Hall.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to the caring staff at Friends Home and Hospice for the special care given to Mrs. Andrews and for the friendships of her "Woodman Hall friends."
