TRINITY Mr. Joseph "Joe" Walter Farlow, Jr., 90, of 3991 Roy Farlow Road, Trinity, died Friday, December 7, 2012, at High Point Regional.
Joe was born in Randolph County, a son to the late Joseph Walter Farlow, Sr. and Edna Millicent Farlow Farlow. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four brothers, Raymond, Stanley, James and Roy Farlow, four sisters, Margaret F. Davis, Verda Farlow, Clarece Farlow and Martha F. Hodgin and one great grandson, Ryan Dickinson. Joe was a member of Poplar Ridge Friends Meeting; he was a member of Quaker Men, Senior Friends, 'Willing Fellowship' Sunday School Class, and served in many capacities in the Meeting. Joe was also a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Europe in World War II. On November 1, 1941 he married the love of his life, the former Irene Spencer. He was the owner/operator of Farlow Frame Shop retiring in 1987. He was a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Irene Farlow of the home; four children, Sarah F. Dickinson and husband, Paul, of Lakeland, FL, Don Farlow and wife, Mary, of Trinity, NC, Lowell Farlow and wife, Molly, of Singapore and Carolyn F. Hines and husband, Al, of Boone, NC; six grandchildren, Amy D. Brown, Mark Dickinson, Catherine F. Teng, Anna F. Carper, Aaron Hines and Tim Hines; and nine great grandchildren.
A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, December 12 at Poplar Ridge Friends Meeting with officiating ministers, Britt Groom, Brian Donley and Randy Quate. Burial will follow at the Meeting Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, December 11th, from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale.
